Babies on the Loose

Here are the seeds that are all "started" for my garden. This was last week.
I have onions, squash, peppers, cilantro, tomatoes, cukes, and green beans.
Here are the seeds this week. Look how those babies have grown! We are going to have A LOT of cucumbers.

Here is how I transplanted and seperated the seedlings so that we, Stacie and I, will be ready to plant here in about a month or so.
I put some potting soil in coffee filters and then took the seperate little seedlings in each one.

Then I used corsoage boxes to make terririums for further growth. I put one rubber band around each sprout to keep it from falling over.
Here I used the shoe rack from the entry way. It worked really well.
 Look at those cucumbers go!
We are going to have LOTS of pickles this year.
I also wanted to post the progress of the chicks. This was last week. Here are the meat birds.
And here are the Brahmas.
And here they are today! Can you say Holy Chickens!
I moved them to some porta-cribs because they were getting so big. They look kind of scragly, but it is because thier new feathers are coming in.

By doing small and simple things, great things are accomplished.

Ellen's Wild Rose was started with you in mind, my goal is to create quality products to help you impress your friends and family. There are many of you who just do not have the time to assemable a Quilt Top, so let me do the part I LOVE the most .

Let me do the creating of Quilt Tops and you do the Quilting, you select the batting that best fits you. You create what design to Quilt. All that's left for you to do is start up the old crock~pot in the morning and then began to Quilt. Take advantage of the opportunity to have it all, a good home cooked meal for your family and a Quilt nearly done. What a day !!!

Rose for Mom

When your a Rose, life is bursting with sweet flavor that takes you to a world of Love ~ Comfort ~ Peace. A Rose for me holds a very special place in my heart, I
was so blessed with the name.

Stopping to smell the Roses is a very common place for me to go; how with age I take more time to reflect on what do's and should's matter the most. I have many Roses in my garden which encompass my entire yard, along with sweet smells of Lavender~Thyme ~ Sweet Bails ~ Peach Blossom and this brings my mind reeling into childhood ~early marriage and also of my grandparents.

My grandmother, Melvina, had a love of cooking that was passed on to my mom Dorothy ,then on to me, bringing from the old world Rosewater Spread ~ Rose Petal Tea Jelly and yes even Peach Pit Jelly. The art of these delicate treats is not difficult to master.

**********************************************************************

Rosewater Spread

1/3 cup butter, softened

1 pkg. (3oz) cream cheese, softened

2 TBSP rose water (available at gourmet food stores)

1 drop red liquid food coloring

31/2 cups sifted confectioners sugar

Plain sweet wafer cookies

In a medium bowl, combine butter, cream cheese, rose water, and food coloring; beat until fluffy. Add confectioners sugar; beat until smooth. Spoon into a serving container. Chill 30 minutes or until firm enough to shape.

Use a small, warm, dry metal spatula to shape a rose design in spread (warm spatula in hot water and wipe dry). Store in an airtight container in refrigerator. Serve at room temperature with cookies.

Yield: about 2 1/4 cups spread

And so started my sewing corear. By the time I was 11 years old I was sewing own close. My Mom was a great help to me in my teachings .So by the time I started Home Ecc. I was very advanced , so my teacher touck the time to teach me complexed plaids and so on.
It did not take long for my sewing to become part of my every day income.
